Footgolf combines the power of football with the precision of golf. The goal is simple: kick a Size 5 football into a specialized 21-inch cup in as few shots as possible.
At Tanjong Puteri, we utilize our beautiful Straits Course, a rolling terrain to create a course that is challenging for adults yet perfectly accessible for children.
At this point of time, we are also the only golf course in Johor that has a full 18 hole golf course (our Straits Course) dedicated to FootGolf.
At TPGR, our FootGolf holes are strategically placed at our fully dedicated 18 hole Straits Course, away from the usual golf putting greens at Plantation Course.
This ensures you get the full access to kick your ball anytime onto the manicured golf greens, without worrying about any disruptions to the usual golf tee-offs.
Whether you’re a local from JB, a Singaporean looking for a weekend getaway, or a corporate team seeking a fresh challenge, Footgolf at TPGR is your next favorite activity.
1. The Gateway to Golf Culture
Many people feel intimidated by traditional golf. FootGolf removes that barrier. You get to enjoy our prestigious resort atmosphere and world-class turf without needing to spend years mastering a golf swing.
2. A Total Workout in Nature
Set against our lush, Straits Course landscape, a round of FootGolf is a fantastic way to hit your daily step count. Walking 18 holes across our undulating hills provides a great cardio workout while you breathe in the freshest air in Pasir Gudang.
3. The Ultimate Family Bonding
Tanjong Puteri is a family-first resort. Unlike many sports that separate age groups, Footgolf allows a 7-year-old and a 70-year-old to compete on the same "pitch." It is the perfect outdoor activity to get the kids off their screens and into the sun.
4. Perfect for Team Building & Birthdays
Looking for something different for your next corporate retreat or birthday bash? Footgolf is social, competitive, and hilarious. It’s the best way to build camaraderie without the high pressure of other sports.

To ensure everyone has a great time on our courses, please keep these basics in mind:
The Gear: Wear your favorite football jersey or a polo shirt! Strictly no football boots with studs/cleats. Turf shoes or standard sneakers are required to protect our beautiful grass.
The Kick: Your "tee shot" starts between the markers. From there, you play the ball exactly where it lies.
Respect the Green: At TPGR, our FootGolf holes are placed at the dedicated 18 hole Straits Course, away from the usual golf putting greens at Plantation Course.
Keep the Pace: A standard round takes about 2 to 2.5 hours, leaving you plenty of time to play your heart out. Do visit our Clubhouse for delicious meals and other in-house recreations afterward!

Is FootGolf a real sport?
Yes, Footgolf is a fully recognized international sport. It is governed globally by the Federation for International FootGolf (FIFG), which was established in 2012. The sport has its own official rulebook, world rankings, and international tournaments. It has even achieved "Observer Status" with the Global Association of International Sports Federations (GAISF), a significant step toward potential future Olympic recognition. It is a sport of skill, strategy, and etiquette, far beyond just a "casual game."
Who invented FootGolf?
While various versions of "football golf" have been played informally for decades, the modern sport of Footgolf was officially created and standardized in The Netherlands in 2008. It was developed by Michael Jansen and Bas Korsten. Jansen was inspired by a post-training game played by professional footballers at the British club Tottenham Hotspur, where players would compete to kick their balls from the pitch back to the changing rooms in the fewest touches possible.
Which countries play FootGolf?
Every few years, the FIFG organizes the FootGolf World Cup participated by national teams from across the globe to compete for world-class titles. Footgolf is played in 35 countries especially:
In Europe: The UK, Netherlands, France, Hungary, Italy.
The Americas: The USA, Argentina, Mexico.
In Asia-Pacific: Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, Australia.
Is Footgolf popular in Malaysia?
Footgolf has seen explosive growth in Malaysia since its introduction in 2018, governed by Footgolf Malaysia. It has become a staple for both weekend warriors and professional players. Tanjong Puteri Golf Resort is a premier destination in Johor (Southern region) for FootGolf sport at our 18Hole Straits Course. We have personally hosted friendly matches at our venue.
Is it suitable for Singaporean day-trippers?
Absolutely. Located just a short drive from the Causeway and the Senai-Desaru Expressway, TPGR is the most convenient "Footgolf getaway" for those coming from Singapore or JB city center.
What else can I do after my game?
That’s the best part of playing at our full-service resort! After your match, you can head to the Golfer’s Cafe for a delicious spread of buffet lunch or the open terrace by the swimming pool for a refreshing drink with teabreak delicacies. You may want to consider taking a dip in our Olympic-sized swimming pool to cool off. There’s also other recreations you can go for such as the ATV ride, bowling, snooker and more. Conclusion
At Tanjong Puteri, we don’t treat Footgolf as a "side activity." By dedicating a full 18-hole course to the sport, we provide the space for true strategy, healthy competition, and a full morning or afternoon of engagement. It’s not just a game; it’s a journey across our lush, award-winning landscape.
